Microwave Door Glass Is Foggy

The seal on the microwave door glass is compromised and allowing moisture and perhaps the microwaves to enter between the windows inner and outer.

Microwave door glass is foggy.

I just installed a new kenmore elite advantium 120 microwave in oct of 2007. The main problem with a foggy sliding glass door is that the gasket is no longer sealed. Therefore you will need to start out by drilling a hole in the gasket for the moisture to escape. This is the simplest fix to the problem but it will only be temporary.

The window in the door has become cloudy to the point of my having difficulty seeing inside the over when it is on. This microwave has a major flaw in that it fogs up very quickly across the door viewing window. This occurred if using just the microwave or just the convection or both together. This is normal but it can pose a problem if the water gets in between the layers of glass on the microwave door.

If moisture is noticed between the glass allow the microwave door to stand open for approximately 15 minutes to accelerate the dissipation of the moisture. As a result moisture in the infiltrating air can condense when conditions are right colder outer glass against warm air inside the glass panel causing the glass to develop the hazy fogginess that most everyone has seen. The fogginess may come and go depending on weather conditions. Remedy this issue by leaving the microwave door open for several minutes until the water evaporates completely.

Microwaves are dangerous appliance to work on. Can the door be taken apart or is it necessary to purchase an entire new door. Even the most elastic flexible seal can t last forever. The condensation gets between the two layers of door glass and condenses inside this make viewing the cooking food almost impossible.

Anybody know of any fixes. Use the vent fan to help prevent moisture from building up. It allows moisture into the area between the panes. Eventually a seal will allow moisture to enter the window.

There is a great potential for leakage here. It develops when you boil water or heat food with a high moisture content on the stove top below the microwave. To keep the windows looking their best use a homemade cleaning solution that cleans the glass and removes the haze without chemicals or other harmful ingredients. I would not continue to operate this oven until i have it fixed.

Step 1 combine 2 cups water 2 cups white vinegar and 5 drops dish soap in a spray bottle.
